If you are deep in to affiliate marketing you may be asking yourself, why do most affiliate marketers fail to make money online. Below I am adding the real reasons affiliate marketers fail. In addition, the answer provides the solution. If you are new to affiliate marketing, pay close attention. You don’t want to make these mistakes.
I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again. The difference between a loser and a winner, is that a winner picks themselves up even after failing. That being said, if this describes you, you already know my answer to being successful. Take these insights and run with them. I only know these because since 2005 I’ve gotten more familiar with my failures than most do their entire lives.
Affiliate Marketing Fail #1: Lack of Patience
This is #1 for a reason. Being successful online takes time and patience beyond belief! Unlike your typical job, you can’t work your 40 hours and expect to get paid right away. Conversely, doing the same thing a year or two from now can get you many times more money than you would have at a typical job. People are easy to give up before the finish line. If there is one major answer to “why do affiliate marketers fail“, this is it.
There are so many examples, and Napoleon Hill would agree, that people are so close to achieving their hopes and dreams, only to give up at the golden hour of achievement. And this is absolutely heart-breaking to think about. Above all else, you must be patient. Affiliate marketing has made so many millionaires its unreal. You just have to stick with it, like your life depended on it… because it does!
Affiliate Marketing Fail #2: Lack of Support
Being an affiliate marketer can be a lonely journey. 9 times out of 10, most people in your life will think you’re involved in some sort of scam. Or they think you’ve been scammed. People hear the term “make money online” and they limit themselves to their own misguided beliefs. It took me a lot of years, proving to friends, family and loved ones, that this had real potential. Don’t let this lack of belief or support drag you down.
For myself, I tend to not talk about what I do, except to those that I trust or that I know will support me, about Internet marketing. The negativity from others surrounding your ambitions can really drain your soul, if you let it. Let’s face it, haters gonna hate. Let them hate, while you climb your way to the top.
Affiliate Marketing Fail #3: Lack of Ambition
If you don’t have ambition and perseverance, you’re not going to make it. Simple as that. You have to want, and know, you will be successful. You have to hold in your heart what being successful in affiliate marketing will do for you. Hold on to the thought of the freedom you will have working from your laptop while on vacation. It’s not an easy journey, but it is definitely a fulfilling one.
You really got to get yourself up every morning and commit to creation. One has to commit to some sort of advance, every single day. You don’t have to climb a mountain, but you have to at very least take a step. Myself, I commit to creating some form of content and some form of promotion every day. Whether this is a blog post, a video, link building, editing older content, posting on social media, or whatever. Don’t go to bed unless you are satisfied that you made an improvement in your business. Why do most affiliate marketers fail? This is a big one on the list.
Affiliate Marketing Fail #4: Distractions and/or Misinformation
Have you ever gone down the wrong rabbit hole while trying to figure out a problem? Or have you gotten so easily distracted you couldn’t get a single thing done? As I write this, I caught myself checking Facebook. I immediately had to pull myself back in and get back to business, especially if I wanted to sleep tonight. One thing I have also struggled with is focusing my energy on things that won’t provide results, or very little results.
The 80/20 rule states that you will get 80 percent of your results from only 20 percent of the work you do (see Pareto principle). If it isn’t going to make your affiliate marketing efforts worth while, then maybe consider revising your plan. Take a step back, re-assess, then get back on track. There is a plethora of B.S. out there and you are going to only want to focus on what brings you success. The rest are distractions.
Affiliate Marketing Fail #5: Lack of Knowledge
Committing to learning and growing is all a part of the game. You must invest in you and your knowledge to continually learn and grow. Never assume that you know everything. Even today, I take advantage of learning programs involved in my niche as they arrive. The second you decide you know enough, is when the learning stops. When considering why do most affiliate marketers fail, you must consider that some just stop growing. The internet is always changing, as does affiliate marketing.
You must be willing to adapt. Even today, I try to take affiliate marketing courses and affiliate marketing tutorials whenever I can. It’s not a waste of money if you are investing in your future. You’ve heard the age-old saying “you have to spend money to make money.” We spend thousands of dollars each semester to go to a University, that won’t give you half as much as affiliate marketing has the potential of doing.
Always strive to learn more. Take breaks. Then continue to grow your mind. It’s your most valuable asset in this business.
So the short answer to being successful online is to persevere, stay focused, gain knowledge and really go for it. It takes time to make money online, but giving up won’t give you that millionaire lifestyle you’ve been dreaming of either. Even if you don’t have a lot of time…. Just.. Make… Progress…! The steps you take today will build the foundation for years to come!
To your success, see you at the top,
